Eighth Grade Spanish Overview
spanish_flags_poster_lrg.jpg

With over 450 million speakers worldwide Spanish is the fourth most commonly spoken language in the world. Only Mandarin, English and Hindi have more speakers. If you count only native speakers, Spanish outranks English. Spanish is an official language on four continents and is the mother tongue in 21 countries.  In the United States, more than 35 million people claim Spanish as their first language.

In Eighth Grade Spanish class, the overall objective is to give students the tools to improve their Spanish, with emphasis on speaking.  Grammar will be explained and practiced through speaking, using the tenses learned.

We'll continue to expand vocabulary, improve pronunciation and practice verb tenses including: present, preterit, future, commands and imperfect.

Classroom Expectations
  • Students need to bring their binder, book and workbook to every class.
  • Participation is very important; asking and answering questions will help you to better understand the language.
  • Students are expected to check SchoolLoop every day for assignments.  Homework should be submitted the day it's due. Tuesdays, 1:00-1:30 p.m. are reserved for make up quizzes, tests, exams, homework and for students seeking extra help.
