SA welcomes eight new staff members for 2011-2012 |
|
|
While there is much stability on our staff this year, we’ve hired eight new people who bring many innovative and exciting talents to our professional community. Saint Andrew's is pleased to officially welcome the following people:
- Caitlyn Carignan will work with Juliana Gaulden as a Kindergarten Aide. She earned her BA in Childhood and Adolescent Development, as well as her Elementary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, at San Jose State University. She completed her student teaching requirements in a first grade at Franklin Elementary School in San Jose and also substituted there in grades 1-6. She has experience as a Preschool Teacher and a Kindergarten Enrichment Teacher, and she has also coached for Youth Basketball, been a Sports Camp Counselor, and a YMCA Soccer Coach.
- Scott Kroes will work with Cassie Pratt as a Kindergarten Aide. He earned an AA degree in Liberal Arts at West Valley College and a BA in Environmental Studies at San Jose State University. Scott has worked at Carden Day School of San Jose since 2002 in various capacities; Assistant Kindergarten Teacher, Camp Director, Extended Care Coordinator, Physical Education Teacher, and Head Kindergarten Teacher.
- Joelle Strickland, a Saint Andrew's alumna (‘01), will teach second grade. After attending St. Francis High School she earned her BA degree in Communications at Santa Clara University and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at San Jose State University. Joelle completed her student teaching requirements in a 2nd grade at Glider Elementary School, Oak Grove School District. She has already substituted at SAES at many grade levels and it’s truly a pleasure to welcome her back on a full-time basis!
- Joey Jalalian will teach third grade, partnering with Diane Carey, who will move to third grade this year. Joey earned her BA degree in Theatre Arts and acquired her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at Santa Clara University. She student taught at Westwood Elementary School in the Santa Clara Unified School District. Prior to moving into education Joey worked for 6 years in the arts and hotel management industries, most recently serving as Executive Assistant to the General Manager and Marketing Manager of Hotel Valencia in Santana Row.
- Jackie Guengerich will teach fifth grade, partnering with Grace Tuttle, who will move to fifth grade this year. Jackie is well known in our community as her sons both graduated from SAES and she has substituted for many years here at every grade level in the school. She also served as Acting Lower School Head during Victoria Trevor’s maternity leave. She earned her BS in Business Administration, as well as an MBA, at Santa Clara University. Jackie is a multi-talented professional and we’re delighted that she’s joining us full time!
- Ariel Arozco will teach Spanish in grades 3-6. A native of Colombia, he earned his Pedagogical Bachelor at Normal Fabio Lozano Torrijos and a BA degree at Universidad Autonoma Colombia. He taught Spanish, geography, and Colombian history at a private school in Bogota and most recently taught Spanish for three years at Cambrian Academy here in the Silicon Valley. He has also worked as a Spanish tutor at Berlitz.
- J. Cameron Ayers will serve as Interim Chaplain for the coming academic year. Cameron earned his BA degree at Loyola Marymount University, his MA degree at Gonzaga University, and a Master of Divinity degree at Weston School of Theology, Cambridge, MA. He was a Jesuit priest for many years and was recently received into the Episcopal Diocese of California as an Episcopal priest. For over twenty years he has been a teacher and administrator at various private schools, including St. Ignatius School in San Francisco, Loyola High School in LA, USF and Brophy College in Phoenix. He also served for 6 years as pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in San Francisco.
- Adrian Bica is our new Director of Technology. A native of Romania, he earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering at Technical Military Academy in Bucharest. He has also completed graduate work in information technology at the University of Pittsburgh and at San Jose State University. In addition to holding several positions in corporate venues he has served as IT Administrator at the American International School of Bucharest, as Network Analyst for the Arlington County Public Schools, as Information Technology Director at the American School of Warsaw, and as Director of Communications and Educational Technology at Saklan Valley School in Moraga.
