The first school-wide service project of the year was a sweet one, literally! Students brought in a portion of their Halloween treats to be shared with Operation Care and Comfort, a local non-profit organization that writes letters and sends care packages to troops deployed overseas as well as local Veterans. A total of 236 pounds of chocolate bars, drops, tarts, gummies, pops, tootsies, chewing gum, licorice and more were dropped off in the main office over the four days following Halloween!
The idea for this service project came from Kindergarten Aide, Scott Kroes, himself a reserve serviceman.
While each grade has an on-going service learning focus this year, the next all school initiative is a food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank coordinated by our Middle School Students. Donations can be dropped off November 14th - December 16th.
