|Dear Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School Families and Friends,|
Saint Andrew’s is a gem in the Silicon Valley and I am honored and excited to be your new Head of School.
In its 57 years Saint Andrew’s has maintained a proud history of delivering stellar education and nurturing the “whole child”-intellectually, spiritually, socially and physically. This mission resonates deeply with me and was evident during my time at the School. I witnessed the committed teachers, engaged students and supportive families; these are all an important part of the fabric of Saint Andrew’s.
Throughout the search process, the Lessons and Carols chapel and my spring visit to Saint Andrew’s I have had many wonderful interactions with students, parents and faculty. I know firsthand what a close-knit community you are and am excited to join you. You are a vibrant community who embraces diversity of all kinds, has a strong focus on academic and social emotional learning and extends a genuine warmth to all. This inclusivity encourages student agency and fosters an unprecedented strength that reverberates throughout the community.
The value of an Episcopal education is personal for me. I have experienced this journey through the eyes of my daughter Kobi, who attended St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Oakland, kindergarten – 8th grade, and is now a freshman in college at The Lincoln University in Baltimore Pike, PA. She received an education and experience that will stay with her throughout her lifetime, as it has prepared her to meet academic expectations, helped refine her character and encouraged her to be an active participant in the greater community. SAES does this same work as it also prepares students to be confident lifelong learners with a sense of purpose in the students’ immediate community and beyond.
At the end of the 2018 school year, I completed 17 years at St. Paul’s Episcopal School. I am proud of my journey and thankful for the experiences that I have had, as well as the community of parents, students and colleagues who I have partnered with over time. While those relationships have been invaluable, it is time for a change: change is good. Thank you in advance for welcoming me into the community of Saint Andrew’s. I am looking forward to what is in store for us... together.
