On November 14, our Parents Association announced that it would be hosting a supplies and food drive to aid the thousands of families devastated by the Camp Fire in Northern California. The 3-day Food and Supplies Drive benefits The Oroville Hope Center.
The Center has shared, “We are in dire need of ready-to-eat, non-perishable foods that we can provide to the evacuation centers immediately. These foods should be easy to open and easy to eat. Many shelters do not have kitchens for heating and preparing food. If you can get the pop top cans that is ideal. We are also in dire need of supplies as many people lost everything.”
Upon learning of the drive, the Saint Andrew's Lower School Student Council, comprised of representatives of Grades 3–5, voted to use a portion of the proceeds they have raised from fundraising projects to purchase items for the drive. The students, with the assistance of their advisors Mrs. Gwynne, Mrs. Marcel, and Mrs. Guengerich, purchased supplies such as paper towels, paper plates, toilet paper, tissues, and wet wipes. They also purchased soups, crackers, ready-to-eat-meals, granola bars, applesauce pouches, and more. Their items, along with everything received from our parent community, will be taken to The Oroville Hope Center this weekend.
