Pre-K & Kindergarten

The years in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten lay the foundation for children as students and lifelong learners.

Our early education teachers are well versed in the developmental stages specific to this age group and work to instill an excitement about learning in a nurturing and stimulating environment. The teachers work to know each child individually and to provide the kind of daily encouragement that allows each one of them to flourish. Respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and kindness are all qualities we actively seek to affirm in our youngest students.

Children this age learn best by doing, which is why our curriculum includes a variety of hands-on activities in line with the children’s real-world contexts. Children explore a variety of topics through reading, writing, and active investigation. They practice multiple problem-solving strategies and work on explaining their mathematical thinking. They do the work of real scientists as they question, observe, and analyze phenomena they experience in the natural world. They build Spanish vocabulary through games, projects, and role-playing. They express themselves creatively through the visual and performing arts. Our curriculum encourages curiosity, stimulates thinking, and helps to instill in each child a sense of self-confidence.

Our complete curriculum is intentionally designed to help our earliest learners develop their intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social capacities as fully as possible. From their flexible, open classroom design, to the daily schedule that carefully balances academics and playtime, each component is purposefully designed to inspire students to think critically, express themselves creatively, and find joy in discovery.

Our early education program provides both an introduction and solid foundation to the academic and social-emotional learning that will continue in both Lower and Middle School.
