Pre-K Overview
Our Pre-Kindergarten program follows the recommendations of and is fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The curriculum supports each of these learning domains: social and emotional (social behaviors, self-awareness), cognitive (language, literacy, communication, math, science), physical (gross and fine motor), artistic (creative and musical), and spiritual.
Our two Pre-Kindergarten teachers, along with subject specialists, have created an engaging environment where students learn through a multi-sensory, guided instructional approach that promotes exploration, creativity, and social interaction. Structured activities are coupled with free explorations at various learning centers that are visited by the students throughout the day. These centers may include dramatic play, math, literacy, art, science, nature, fine motor, and construction. Centers are often created around interdisciplinary themes.
In addition to primary classroom subjects like reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and character, Pre-Kindergarten students also receive instruction in art, music, religion, Spanish, and physical education. Instruction also includes time in our science lab, library, and garden.
All students applying for the Pre-K program are required to be 4 years old before September 1 of their entry year.
