Lunch Program

1.  Is the lunch program included in tuition or billed separately?

No, the lunch program is billed directly through your FACTS account and enrollment is a separate transaction from paying tuition.

2.  Do I have to pay for lunch for the school year all at once? If not, what are my options? 

Yes, you can choose to pre-pay for the full year (about 165 lunches) or on a semester basis (about 83 lunches).

3.  What is the deadline to pay for the lunch program or can I sign up during any month if my child decides they want it?

Yes, you can choose to sign up at any time, however the cost will not be prorated. Regardless of when in the year you sign up, you will be charged for the semester during which you enroll (about 83 lunches).

4.  If I don't enroll in advance, can my child buy lunch on any given day? What's the process to do that?

Yes, students can still select lunch even if they have not pre-paid! Day-of purchases will be billed directly to your FACTS account at a rate of $14 per lunch.

5.  Can I cancel my child's enrollment in the lunch program? And, will I get a refund?

No, enrollment in the lunch program is non-refundable. If you aren't sure about committing to a semester, you can opt to purchase on a day-by-day basis through your FACTS account at a rate of $14 per lunch.

1.  What will be the process for verifying which students have pre-paid for the lunch program?

Students in line to receive lunch will be identified as either pre-paid or, a scan will trigger a bill to your FACTS account for "day of" purchases at a rate of $14 per lunch. 

2.  How will Pre-K, TK, and Kindergarten students receive their lunches?

Lunches will be delivered to the classrooms for Pre-K, TK, and Kindergarten. The process for selecting meals will be shared priorto the start of the new school year.

3.  Where will students go to receive their lunch each day?

Students will approach the new kitchen space from outside the Gym similarly to where they currently line up to receive their lunches.

4.  Can my child go through the lunch line more than once a day if they forget something or change their mind?

Yes, we are committed to providing each student with wholesome, fresh, and locally sourced food to nourish them. Your child's wellness is our priority and within reason, students may return to the lunch line. 

5.  How will my student receive their lunch if they attend a field trip?

Depending on the location and timing of the field trip, lunches will either be packed and taken along with students or, students will visit the kitchen to select their lunch once they return to campus.   

6.  If my child is enrolled in the lunch program, but is not in school for any reason, can I pick up their lunch?

Yes, if your child is ill or unable to attend school for any reason, you are welcome to pick up their lunch between 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. 

1.  How often will the lunch menu change? Will there be variation throughout the year?

We will have a chef onsite from Epicurean who will feature a new lunch menu each week and they will offer a rotating seasonal menu well as support cultural events. Some popular food items will be available on a consistent basis.

2.  How will allergies and dietary requirements be managed on a day-to-day basis? 

Student safety and nutrition is our priority. All food will be clearly labeled and a variety of foods will be available each day to          accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions. The chef and kitchen staff will have a list of all students with special dietary needs to ensure that any student requiring a separate food item, plate, or tray is available at all times.

3.  Will my child need to pre-select their meal in advance?

No, we will be providing a full-service buffet with multiple mobile stations featuring a variety of food selections offered daily ensuring there will always be something your child will want to eat.

1.  What food safety standards are followed in the new kitchen?

Epicurean complies with all applicable laws and regulations and all food safety frameworks, policies and procedures including      handling, preparing, storing, and transporting food under appropriate and sanitary conditions that do not expose it to the risk of contamination.

2.  If it's a buffet, how will the staff maintain cleanliness and ensure no cross-contamination?

Epicurean staff will monitor the safety and cleanliness of the food service. If anything is misused, it will be replaced immediately.

3.  Who will be working in the new kitchen and have they undergone background checks and food safety training? 

Yes, all adults on campus must have a background check. Our kitchen is fully licensed throughout the state of CA and follow all food safety regulations.
