Expanding STEM Opportunity: Welcome to the New SAES Tech Garage

From a group of 61 students in October of 2023 that were tech enthusiasts wanting to learn how to design, build, and program robots and create strong friendships with like-minded students, the robotics program became a significant addition at Saint Andrews. Due to its large popularity and expansion to 77 students, fixed space for the program has been an issue with the school's growing campus and increased student interest.

 

Saint Andrew's has always prioritized creative learning opportunities and recognizes students' desire to learn. Using the students' passion for STEM, a fundraising campaign was launched to update an existing area that would allow them to continue exploring their passions in robotics with a better-equipped space. In addition, Saint Andrew's found that the space would not only support its robotics teams and clubs, but would also benefit the entire student body by expanding access to hands-on learning activities integrating technology across the curriculum.

 

Students will not only be able to develop technical and collaborative skills, but also dive into creativity, computational thinking, and innovation, preparing students for solving real-world problems. This new addition to our campus allows students to have a designated space to work with their fellow classmates on technology-based activities, and the school community has the tools and supplies they need to grow and learn in STEM. Thanks to our amazing donors, we were able to fulfill the dream of the Saint Andrew's Tech Garage, which opened on September 12, 2024.

 

The Saint Andrew's Tech Garage has both indoor and outdoor work areas, movable furniture for easy access and accommodating larger groups of students, and storage space for tools and equipment. We are excited to see how this space continues to grow over the next several years and look forward to making lifelong memories here!
