This school year, we decided to introduce something new and exciting to our middle school program – exploratory classes!
Introducing exploratory classes into the middle school curriculum is a significant milestone for SAES. These courses are more than just fun additions to the school day or a way for our program to offer similar courses as other middle school programs in the area – they’re a way to offer students a chance to explore subjects that might not be covered in the regular academic schedule. In middle school, students are beginning to understand their unique strengths and interests. Exploratory classes provide a safe and engaging environment for them to try new things, develop new skills, and discover talents they may not have known they had. It’s an exciting opportunity to diversify their learning experiences and develop a deeper sense of curiosity and enthusiasm.
After finishing one semester of these courses, we have seen the powerful impact on our middle school students. Whether they have learned different art and craft abilities, improving their photography skills, or learning how to bake a new dish, students are discovering new passions and talents. These courses have helped our students grow as individuals, encouraging them to embrace new challenges, think critically, and build community.
We’re excited to continue to offer diverse exploratory classes this school year and in the years to come. They have become a valuable part of the middle school experience at SAES, and we’re thrilled to watch our students grow as they continue to become well-rounded individuals.
