Saint Andrew's Student Publishes Their First Children's Book

Recently, one of our 6th-grade students, Sanjit, published a children’s book, Brian and the Lying Mansion. The story follows a boy named Brian who hates all things scary. Throughout the book, he must decide if he can overcome his fears or stay inside a mansion that seems to be lying.

I had the opportunity to interview our published student author. Here is what he has to say:

 

What drove you to write the book?

Well, I have always wanted to share my stories with the world, and once I realized there was no age limit for writing a book, I was really motivated to do it. I just got excited.

 

How old were you when you first published your book?

When I first published my book, I was actually the same age I am now, 11, because I published it last year. I have written about five books in total, with only one of them having ever been published.

 

How were you able to get the book in an online bookstore?

Well, it took a lot of time because I had to email many literary agents, and no one really believed in me as a kid. Finally, I had the opportunity to work with a bookstore, create my own YouTube channel, and do a lot of self-marketing on my own.

 

What are some future books that you want to work on?

I am actually writing a new book. It's a spy book titled The Cipher Kids, and it is actually a collaboration with one of my old friends at my old school.

 

Sanjit’s work highlights our students' talent and ambition here at Saint Andrew’s. His determination and creativity inspire his classmates, showing that age is no barrier to achieving big dreams. I am excited to see what other stories Sanjit will write and how he will continue to inspire his peers.
