Tuition Assistance Grant Program

Consistent with the Episcopal value of "all are welcome", Saint Andrew's Episcopal School is committed to making our wholehearted education accessible to eligible families who embrace the mission of our school. Our Tuition Assistance Grant Program is a financial aid program that provides grants to eligible families, based on demonstrated financial need, to ensure that the most qualified students have the opportunity to attend Saint Andrew's regardless of financial resources. We encourage all prospective and returning families to learn about and apply for a Tuition Assistance Grant.

During the 2017-2018 school year, Saint Andrew’s awarded $552,000 in Tuition Assistance grants to 20% of our overall student body. Tuition Assistance Program awards ranged in size from 4% to 85%, with an average grant of approximately $10,366.

How to Apply for a Tuition Assistance Grant

Applying for a Tuition Assistance Grant will not affect a student's eligibility for admission to Saint Andrew's. Saint Andrew's follows the principles and procedures of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), a third-party service managed by the National Association of Independent Schools, that collects and analyzes financial data provided by families.

Step 1: Learn about SSS and the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS)

Visit the SSS website http://sssbynais.org/parents to learn about how to complete the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS). The PFS collects detailed information about your family size, income, and expenses. Because many private schools use the PFS, you only have to fill it out once each year and you can apply for financial aid for multiple schools at the same time for all of your children. The PFS will take some time to complete and you'll need your most recent tax return.

Step 2: Create your PFS Online Account and Complete the PFS

Beginning October 1, 2018, go to https://sss.secure.force.com/familyportal. Create your PFS account with your email address and a password that you designate. If you applied for financial aid last year, login to the PFS Online as a Returning Family using the email address and password you previously set up.

Begin your PFS for the upcoming 2019-2020 academic year. You don't have to complete your PFS in one sitting. You can save your entry and log back in at any time. After you submit the PFS, you will be brought to a payment screen and prompted to pay the $49 non-refundable financial aid application fee.

Step 3: Upload Supporting Documents (Tax Returns) to your PFS Account

After you complete and submit the PFS, you have access in your PFS account to the “My Documents” section where you can upload additional required documents such as your most recent tax returns. Please upload each document type as a separate PDF. SSS will need these documents to complete their analysis.

The priority deadline to submit your PFS and supporting documents is February 1. However, Tuition Assistance Grant Program applications will continue to be accepted after this date as long as funds remain available.

Step 4: SSS Provides an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) to Saint Andrew’s

The School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) analyzes the financial information you submitted against standardized national norms and generates an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC), which is SSS' objective assessment of what your family should be able to contribute to your child's annual education costs. Saint Andrew's Tuition Assistance Committee reviews you family's PFS and EFC and uses this information as a guide when determining whether a Tuition Assistance Grant award is warranted and, if so, the dollar amount.

Step 5: Saint Andrew's Notifies Your Family of the Tuition Assistance Decision and Award

Tuition Assistance Grant decisions and awards will be included in the admission packet for eligible admitted students and families. Both new and returning families will be notified by email of the Tuition Assistance Grant decision and award, if applicable. New and returning families who receive Tuition Assistance Grants must re-apply through SSS each year to receive Tuition Assistance for future school years.
